Martin Luther King day: Forgiveness is the Way

“I think it’s about forgiveness, even if, even if, you don’t love me anymore.” Don Henley
There are so many reasons why we do not forgive. Old loves that are gone seem closer if we hold onto the hurt they left us with. If we forgive them, we let go of them, and sometimes we aren’t ready to do that.
Few medical doctors would admit to a diseased heart being caused by a broken heart. In my work with people, I find many who are actually dying with congestive heart failure because they have not …

Love returns to love: do pets reincarnate?

There is an energy that is loves us that want us to fulfill our purpose and simply wants us to be happy. Why do we have such a hard time believing that something so miraculous could happen in our lives?

dog love, working together & the end of fear

Currently, 30% of the animals being turned in to the shelters are done so because of behavior issues. My belief is that as humans we are letting these dogs down, I was called in earlier in the year by Small Paws because a woman who adopted a dog wanted to turn the dog into the humane society because he had “maybe” bitten someone. I did a session with the dog & he stayed in the home

Pets and anger

Anger. Everyone feels it, even if you are a saint. Like Deepak Chopra says, “If you have a physical body, you are not evolved totally, and still have your dark side.”

What I have learned from dogs:

Meditation is sacred, and a moving meditation like a walk is the BEST!
- If someone is especially cooking your favorite meal, it’s okay to do a “happy dance”
-Every once & awhile you come across someone who you have nothing in common with, and instead of judging, you just need to give them a wide berth.
-Not everyone has to love you, but you can still try for that….
-you can never snuggle too much.
-Trust that when someone likes or even loves you, they usually meet you halfway.
-if you patiently wait your turn, you will get a treat too.
-a fight …

Canine one of a kind

This is an article I wrote previously, when I was between my first bichon Patsy and my girls now, Gracie and Lucie. I have found no matter how many dogs you know, none are alike. Dogs are like snowflakes, only much larger and warmer. This may seem like a tribute, (and probably is) but it is my accounting of her presence in my life, what I appreciated the most.
Who am I now, without a living dog, present in my life? I find that I do not have the excited frenzy of the possibility of meeting new people, meeting strangers that …

The hard work of following your heart

The rule I was taught about working hard, physical labor, being a path to abundance, happiness and joy is not always (or is it ever?) true. What is true is that we must trust our hearts: that voice within us that speaks to us to write, to dance, and to take a nap, regardless of the monetary rewards.
If we can do that we may experience a real miracle, that of following our hearts, our spirit’s yearning, and a whole different definition of hard work. Having the courage to listen to what is specific to your soul, “the different drummer” so to speak, is not comfortable.

Procrastination. OR: Why Don’t I Have Done What I Meant To Do Over The Holidays?

Undone projects weigh us down, draining energy from us. The ironic thing is, that this stuff HAS TO BE DONE, and so by putting it off we rob ourselves of energy, lower our self esteem, and allow opportunities to pass us by

Finding Grace in the Current Economic Downfall & Gratefulness for Today

What if this IS a world of plenty: with more than enough to go around- but only by sharing it the way Jesus did with the loaves and fishes? That by giving to others we in no way diminish but actually strengthen ourselves? That the safer future, is not a strong military, not a retirement account of money in the stock market, but a future where actual LIFE is valued?

Do YOU lead with your heart ? or your mind ?

“ The salvation of this human world lies nowhere else
than in the human heart, in the human power to reflect,
in human meekness and human responsibility.” Vaclav Havel

When interacting with clients many people try to understand how the metaphysical world works. Especially if they are the type of person known as an analytical type.  When I started working for my Masters in Animal Science, I had to learn that you can’t just come up with a study and say, “hey, this sounds good, let’s do it.”  You had to do a literature review, and see the studies that preceded yours. You …
